Dear CRES families,

We are so proud our Langley pyramid students raised $16,550 in schools, and we need your help online to reach $35,000.  The Langley pyramid will reach our goal when the ‘Online Donation’ reaches $18,450.  It currently shows $10,065.  Please make a tax-deductible donation here.

Our goal is for 100% student participation in our donation initiative, and we need your help as well. We are so proud of your children for all of their work thus far raising money to help children throughout the world. Regardless of the amount of money they donate, your child will gain a better understanding of their part in our global community and how they can make a difference in the world.

Our online donations will end February 2.  If you child has not yet participated by donating to this cause, there is still time to donate online to help us reach out collective goal.  If you have not yet donated, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the cause.  Please make a tax-deductible donation herePlease share this link with your family and friends.

Thank you for your continued support and for encouraging your students to raise money to help children and families in our collective effort to Rise Against Hunger. We are moved to hear the stories students share regarding what they are doing to earn the money they donate.  The look of pride on their face is unmistakable when we tell them they just fed 5 people, 40 people, 100 people, 400 people….

We look forward to seeing our volunteers at Colvin Run Elementary School on February 4 as we package the number of meals we purchased as of February 2.

Take care,

Mr. Junge

Rise Against Hunger Volunteer and Donation Information

Dear Colvin Run ES families,

We encourage you to sign up to volunteer and donate for our annual Langley Pyramid Rise Against Hunger event! This is a wonderful Langley pyramid tradition, and we want to make sure our families can participate. As many of you remember, we held our last Rise Against Hunger event in February 2020. This event was a huge success and provide a wonderful service learning opportunity for children and adults of all ages.

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, families in the Langley Pyramid are joining together again this year to help children in need. In partnership with Rise Against Hunger, the Langley pyramid elementary, middle, and high schools are coming together with a goal to prepare 83,000 meal packages for schools and orphanages around the world.

Donate and help raise money for the event:

Our students may donate in school January 3-20. We encourage all our students to donate through our Learn to Earn initiative where students donate loose change/bills towards Rise Against Hunger. We will have a collection table in our Front Lobby with a school-wide goal of 100% participation. Regardless of the amount donated, it is important for our students to help shape the future.

Each meal costs only 42 cents to make. For just $15, you can donate over 35 meals; $30 will make over 70 meals and $100 will make nearly 280 meals. You may make your tax-deductible donation today at: http://events.riseagainsthunger.org/LangleyPyramid2023. When rehydrated, each meal package feeds 5-6 people.  Throughout our efforts, our students will understand how their family’s contribution will help impact nearly 500,000 people.

In order to reach our goal of 83,000 meals, the Langley Pyramid needs to raise $35,000 by January 27th.  If your company makes matching contributions, please consider having them join you in making a tax-deductible donation today at: http://events.riseagainsthunger.org/LangleyPyramid2023 and help us Rise Against Hunger

Volunteer for the event: (Sign up opens January 3rd!!!)

Register to volunteer for the event using Colvin Run ES link at:

Enter your Last Name and Enter "Quantity" as the number of volunteers attending.  If for any reason you need to cancel, please cancel through the Sign-up Genius to make those slots available to other Langley pyramid families. Being a popular Langley pyramid event, please sign up as volunteer slots will fill up quickly.  Children ages 4-12 must be accompanied by an adult. On the day of the event, volunteers package meals based on the amount of money raised, so it is recommended that if you wish to volunteer for the event, please make a monetary donation.

We package meals based on the amount of money raised and our Langley pyramid goal is $35,000 which provides 83,000 meals.  With each meal feeding 5-6 people, this is a wonderful event that impacts over 400,000 individuals around the world and broadens the perspective of our students and families. Colvin Run ES values the importance of service learning to help our students understand their impact on our global community, and we are thrilled to again host Rise Against Hunger at our school.

Sincerely,

Mr. Junge, Mr. Soderstrom, and Mrs. Friedman
