Colvin Run participated in National Bike to School Day, May 9th. This is a great way to encourage physical activity, reduce traffic congestion, educate students about bicycle safety, and highlight bicycling issues. We had been broadcasting bicycle safety tips on the morning news show all week. Students who rode their bikes to school received preferential parking near the school and a special charm to wear on their shoes. To make the event more fun, students were encouraged to be creative by decorating their bikes with streamers, signs or balloons. These bicycles were on display at recess as well.  If students could not bike to school, they biked to their bus stop, the end of the street, or the end of their driveway.  We had nearly 200 students participate in this annual event.
